Description:
Research shows that a surprising number of exiting nurses separate from organizations with highly satisfactory views of the workplace and work experiences. Their reasons for leaving are often not in the organization’s immediate control. These findings help explain why traditional exit surveys aimed at measuring nurse dissatisfaction have not always been useful as a way to assess why nurses are truly leaving.
In this presentation, we demonstrate a strategy through which organizations can enhance their retention strategies by shifting the focus from why nurses leave to why nurses stay.
Our research across healthcare organizations illuminates three critical workplace factors that primarily insulate nurses from leaving their organizations. We will illustrate a comprehensive process for measuring these critical workplace factors.
Unlike exit surveys designed to capture feedback from nurses who have left the organization, our new approach is a proactive method that leads to the prevention of nurse turnover before it actually occurs.
By attending, you will learn -
- Understand the three key workplace issues that most contribute to nurse turnover.
- Identify the financial risk of not measuring turnover.
- Design a comprehensive, straightforward retention strategy to proactively prevent nurse turnover.
